inicialmente para su difusión en una página de Facebook, los diecisiete textos
reunidos en este folleto constituyen una de las primeras búsquedas para
extender los contenidos del blog y foro CUBANOS DE PESCA a aquellos lectores de internet que dominan
exclusivamente la lengua inglesa.
Recordemos
que Cuba ha sido un sitio de elección para muchos estadounidenses aficionados a
la pesca, desde que en los muy tempranos años de la década del 1930 el escritor
Ernest Hemingway recaló en el puerto de La Habana en un yate de recreo, el Anita, triplicó una estadía proyectada
para dos semanas, volvió un año más tarde para quedarse un centenar de días
patrullando los hileros del Gulf Stream, y desembarcó más peces de los que volvería
a ver en cualesquiera otras de las corridas de pesca de su vida.
Escritos a la
manera de veloces crónicas, los textos exploran desde una acuciosa brevedad
cada procedimiento de pesca recreativa (vara criolla, yoyo cubano, spinning,
trolling, flycasting) y la captura de cada especie de pez (cibíes, rabirrubias,
lobinas boquigrandes, agujas, macabíes, incluso clarias) habituales en los
paisajes acuáticos cubanos. Enumeran los ―escasos― libros publicados sobre el
tema en el país, una forma de orientar a posibles lectores y de mostrar una
voluntad intelectual, por muy escasa de logros que en el fondo la consideremos. Esto será como un pequeño tratado de la pesca
deportiva cubana, si se nos permite hablar en sentido figurado.

seventeen texts gathered in this pamphlet constitute one of the first searches
to extend the contents of the blog and forum CUBANOS DE PESCA to those internet
readers that dominate the English language exclusively.
Let us remember that Cuba has been an election place for many Americans passionate
of the angling, since in the very early years of the decade of the 1930 the
